Drive Error 


The SymplyPRO has detected a drive error EC5. The drive has determined that a tape path or read/write error occurred. To prevent damage to the drive or tape, the tape drive will not allow you to insert a cartridge.  The tape drive will try to eject a tape is there is one in the drive.


The error code may clear when place the tape drive into maintenance mode.


Check that the firmware on the tape drive is up to date, and update if required using SymplyATOM2.  


Sometimes Error Code 5 is caused by debris on the tape head, run a cleaning tape through drive 3 times to see if the error is cleared.


The error code may clear when you cycle power the tape drive, before power cycling please open SymplyATOM2 and choose Retrieve Log. Then power off the system after ejecting any data cartridge (if there is one in the drive), wait 20 seconds then power back on.
