1 - Confirm you have everything
- SymplyPRO SAS Models:
- SymplyPRO SAS
- SymplyPRO SAS XTH
- SymplyPRO SAS XFH
- SymplyPRO SAS 1U Rackmount
- SymplyPRO SAS 2U Rackmount
- A suitable PC computer with spare PCIe slot installed with a SAS HBA which is compatible with the version of Windows OS installed.
- A SAS cable to connect from the SymplyPRO SAS to the SAS HBA.
- Symply supply a 2m premium SAS cable with each SymplyPRO SAS product, depending on the model purchased it will either be
- SFF-8644 -to- SFF-8088
- SFF-8644 -to- SFF-8644
- Symply supply a 2m premium SAS cable with each SymplyPRO SAS product, depending on the model purchased it will either be
- Power Cord.
2 - Install Your SAS Driver
Install the SAS driver for your chosen SAS HBA, along with any application required to manage your chosen HBA.
3 - Install LTFS Driver
If you wish to use LTFS, then you need to download and install [IBM LTFS Software] Single Drive Edition (SDE),
Most backup and archive applications that utilize LTFS for writing to LTO tape will install an LTFS driver as part of their own installation process, so this step may not be required.
4 - Install the LTO tape driver for Windows 10 & 11
- Open the Device Manager
- Under the Other devices category, you will see IBM ULTRIUM-XXX SCSI Sequential Device
- Right-click and select Update Driver
- Click Browse my computer for drivers.
- Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
- Select LTO Tape drive (or Cassette Drive) click Next.
- When a warning is displayed select "Yes" to continue.
- The Windows LTO driver will install.
- Close the dialog box and check that the drive is now displayed in the "Tape Drive" section of the Device Manager.
5 - Install the LTO tape driver for Windows Server
For Windows Server 2016, 2019 & 2022, you will need to download and install the IBM LTO Tape driver for the relevant server OS.
Follow the instructions in the installer.
