LTO-10 Tape Drive incorporates the latest generation of Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology, delivering significantly higher capacity than previous generations.
Beyond traditional backup, LTO-10 is designed to meet the growing data demands of modern use cases such as cloud computing, media and entertainment production, digital video surveillance, active file archiving, and long-term data preservation.
With a physical storage capacity of up to 30 TB per cartridge native and 75TB per cartridge compressed (assuming 2.5:1 compression), a massive 67% increase on LTO-9. LTO-10 Tape Drive offers an ideal solution for medium-sized and enterprise businesses seeking reliable, cost-effective backup and archival storage. Symply are the first company to offer the drive technology in a variety of form factors including Thunderbolt™ 3, Ethernet and SAS connectivity, in standalone desktop and rack-mounted configurations., along with tape libraries.
The Full Height LTO-10 drive boasts an uncompressed data transfer rate of up to 400MBps, 100MBps the same as LTO-9 Full Height drives, 11% faster than the Half-Height LTO-7, LTO-8 and LTO-9 drives that all have a performance of 300MB/sec native. The Full Height drives also have advantages over their Half Height counter parts, supporting much higher load and unload cycles as well as fast seek times. What form factor are the LTO-10 Drives available in?
LTO-10 drives are currently only available in a Full Height enterprise drive format as of July 2025. Symply expect the Half Height LTO-10 drives to be available Q2 2026.
