ITDT is a utility provided by IBM for interacting with LTO drives and it required for installation of SymplyATOM.

ITDT-SE for Mac is available for download at the bottom of this article.

Once downloaded, double-click on the zip file to extract it's contents.

These instructions assume the downloaded file is in the default Downloads folder, this is how to use the itdt command line tool to scan for attached LTO drives.

Open Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and drag the itdt file in to the Terminal window

Press the right-arrow key to send the Terminal cursor to the end of the line and type scan and hit Return

A warning appears informing you that the developer cannot be verified

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and click the Allow Anyway button

Return to the Terminal window and hit the up-arrow to run the same command again

Another warning about the developer not being verified appears, click Open to continue

Lastly itdt requests access to the Downloads folder where the command is stored, click OK to continue

That's it! You've successfully installed ITDT-SE for Mac and performed your first scan to detect a connected LTO drive.
